We helped launch United Airlines in New Zealand. United offers a nonstop service between Auckland and San Francisco - connecting Kiwis to more than 44 US cities.
Our activity commenced with a pre-launch media lunch at Clooney Restaurant where United hosted consumer, travel and trade media to preview its offerings and provide content for longer lead outlets.
On July 3, we celebrated United's inaugural flight at Auckland Airport. Passengers were greeted with a traditional Maori pōwhiri, followed by a press conference with Dave Hilfman, United vice president for global sales, Adrian Littlewood, chief executive for Auckland Airport and Hon Chris Finlayson. Media were shown through the Dreamliner 787-8. United hosted a small group of media on the inaugural flight and our group account director, Bridget Allen then took journalists on a four-day famil of the San Francisco area including a tour of Alcatraz, July 4 celebrations, wine tours of Napa and Sonoma Valleys, as well as an awe-inspiring day trip to Yosemite National Park. Launch media coverage has been widespread including stuff.co.nz, NZ Herald and Newshub.
We also negotiated media partnerships with Sunday Star-Times Escape and a More FM promotion offering a trip for two to San Francisco and a road trip to explore California. Be in to win your own United experience!
